An agent that answers doesn’t solve business decisions
The new Decisions API formalizes a layer that was missing in production

WHAT HAPPENED
OpenAI put the Decisions API into public beta
The API evaluates text, image, or both and returns typed responses. It’s used to classify content, route requests, and prioritize work. According to the documentation, it does this 10x faster than the Responses API.

THE REAL PROBLEM IN COMPANIES
What I see in companies when they try to automate decisions
- 01They have an agent answering, but no clear rule for when it should act
- 02There’s no observability to understand why the decision went that way
- 03Without governance, the automation may run, but it doesn’t become a safe operation
I’VE ALREADY SOLVED THIS
This connects directly to what I built in an enterprise account
- 01A multi-agent platform in production in a US$ 5.5 million account
- 02Around 60% efficiency gains with the operation in production
- 03Multi-agent in production requires an audited defect log
MY TAKE
Measure instead of assuming.
When AI starts deciding route, priority, or classification, it’s not enough to look smart. It needs rules, traceability, and a clear accuracy standard. In practice, value comes when the decision enters the operation and the outcome can be measured.
