Voice AI still fails at the basics that block scale
Without reliable context, it just swaps a fragile chatbot for a fragile callbot

WHAT HAPPENED
Executives say voice still has not had its moment
TechCrunch pulled together similar takes: voice has improved, but it still gets stuck on context, response speed, transcription and trust. Transparency also matters: in corporate calls, it needs to be clear when the person is speaking with AI.
THE NUMBER
6B
people have barely had contact with LLMs, according to Karpathy
The gap between demo, casual use and real production use is still large
THE REAL PROBLEM IN COMPANIES
What I see in companies when they try to get this up and running
- 01The voice sounds good, but the AI does not find the right data in time
- 02Without a clear rule, the agent answers beyond what it should
- 03Without integration and metrics, no one knows whether it solved anything or just answered
I HAVE ALREADY SOLVED THIS
This is how it worked at a construction materials store in Southern Brazil
- 0113,312 products in the ERP and 136 different ways to write the unit
- 02245 counter synonyms mapped so the customer could find the right item
- 0365 out of 65 real customer questions found the right product
MY TAKE
Simple that works is worth more than complex that impresses.
In practice, before putting voice into the operation, I would solve context, integration and rules. In the case, the AI does not see the entire catalog: a simple search answers in milliseconds and delivers 8 results to the model. That is what makes production use reliable.
